Professional Biography
Dr Maryam Cassim grew up in South Africa before moving to NSW as a teenager. She attended the University of Newcastle where she completed her undergraduate degree in Medicine. Thereafter she began work as a resident doctor in Newcastle NSW, before going on to complete her training in the speciality of Anaesthesia across NSW and Victoria. After obtaining fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, Dr Cassim completed a speciality fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Queensland Children’s Hospital as well as a fellowship in simulation and education at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. During this time Dr Cassim also pursued her interest in Perioperative Medicine through completion of a Masters of Perioperative Medicine at Monash University. She currently undertakes private and public work, holding positions as a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at both the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Redcliffe Hospital.

Dr Cassim enjoys reading, travelling, and spending time with her husband and dog.
